If you use OFSC trails for recreational snowmobiling, Ontario law requires that your sled display a valid Trail Permit.
Seasonal Trail Permit: $230.00
Seasonal Permit if purchased on or before December 1st: $180.00
7 Day Permit: $120.00
3 Day Permit: $90.00
Replacement Permit: $10.00
Save by Purchasing On or Before Dec. 1 - Save $50 off the full Seasonal Permit fee and pay only $180.00 by purchasing on or before December 1.
Pay the Regular Fee After Dec. 1 - You will pay the regular Seasonal Permit fee of $230.00 if you purchase after December 1 from your club or an authorized permit issuer.
Types of Permits
Seasonal Trail Permit: The fee for the Seasonal Trail Permit is $230.00, but the permit can be purchased on or before December 1 for $180, The Seasonal Trail Permit may be purchased from OFSC clubs in the province of Ontario. The permit expires May 31 of the season of purchase. The permit is valid only in the province of Ontario and only for Prescribed Trails operated by the Ontario Federation Of Snowmobile Clubs.
Replacement Permit: To replace a lost or damaged permit, Replacement Permits may be purchased from any club subject to specific terms and conditions including:
The original permit and the permit receipt (complete with matching validation decal) are returned.
If the original permit is not available a Police Report is required to be filed including an Incident or Occurrence Number, Police Detachment location and phone number where loss was reported, as further verification may be required.
Replacement permits can only be given to the original permit purchaser.
A $10.00 administration fee will apply.
3 Day Trail Permit: The fee for this permit is $90.00. The 3-Day Trail Permit must be purchased before travelling on the trails. It is valid for three consecutive days and expires at midnight on the posted expiry date. A 3-Day Trail Permit cannot be sold on the trail.
7 Day Trail Permit: The fee for this permit is $120.00. The 7-Day Trail Permit must be purchased before travelling on the trails. It is valid for seven consecutive days and expires at midnight on the posted expiry date. A 7-Day Trail Permit cannot be sold on the trail.
Licensing
You need a valid Driver's License or Snow Vehicle Operator's Permit to legally drive a snowmobile in Ontario. Ontario honours Driver's Licences issued by other jurisdictions. Under the authority of the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act, The Minister of Transportation has authorized the OFSC as an agent to issue snow vehicle operator's licenses. Insurance
In order to ride Ontario's trails, you must have insurance for your sled.
